Bholoja, born Mbongiseni “Bholoja” Ngubane, is a celebrated Swazi singer, songwriter, guitarist, and cultural ambassador whose unique, soul-stirring sound has earned him recognition across Africa and beyond. Known for his signature Siswati Soul—a blend of traditional Swazi rhythms, folk, soul, jazz, and contemporary African sounds—Bholoja stands as one of Eswatini’s most influential musical exports.

His emotive voice, storytelling ability, and commitment to preserving the Siswati language through music have positioned him as a respected artist, collaborator, and cultural advocate on the global stage.

Bholoja’s artistry has attracted collaborations with some of the most respected musicians in Africa and the world, including: Wally Badarou, Joss Stone, Erykah Badu, Vusi Mahlasela, Hugh Masekela, Stewart Sukuma, Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse, Jimmy Dludlu, Don Laka, Ray Phiri, Sun-EL Musician, Sjava, Msaki

Bholoja has performed extensively across the African continent, touring at least 20 African countries and building a devoted, pan-African audience. His global footprint also extends to Europe, with performances in France and Austria.

 

He has graced major festivals, including: Joy of Jazz Festival (South Africa), MTN Bushfire Festival (Eswatini), Azgo Festival (Mozambique)
